
Vincenzo Bernardo was born in Morristown, New Jersey on May 22nd, 1990. He started playing soccer in his hometown Madison’s recreational soccer league when he was just 6 years old . While playing in the league being 2 years younger than everyone else his father Phil Bernardo taught him the basics of soccer how to dribble, juggle, pass, and shoot. Vincenzo always had a passion for scoring goals.Vincenzo’s father then took him to an indoor soccer session at the local YMCA. After playing a few years in the YMCA Travel team he was seen by Morristown’s best travel team Morris United Fireballs. At age 12 he moved his playing to Morris United where he was coached by an Italian/American Carmine Zammiello. Vincenzo soon later became one of the top players on the team. He lead his team to defeat many of the top teams in the state of New Jersey. Soon after Morris United Fireballs became one of the top teams in the state. They started to compete in many nation wide tournaments and winning a few as well. Vincenzo was always seen as the gifted player on the team. Then at the age of 14 he was asked to try out for the ODP(Olympic Development Program) team. His first year trying out he made the New Jersey ODP team, The Region 1 team, and the USA National pool which consisted of the top 50 players in the country at the 1990 age group. At the same time he was attending Madison Junior school where he also played for the soccer team there. His first year as a 7th grader he lead the team in scoring with 32 goals which also broke the past scoring record of 23 goals. Once being involved in many U15 National team camps he became a well rounded player. The next year as an 8th grader he lead his middle school team to their first ever county championship and shattering his own goal scoring record by scoring an astonishing 48 goals in 15 games. After he graduated 8th grade he already had his mind set on playing soccer for America’s soccer powerhouse St. Benedicts prep where he was coached by Richard Jacobs. As a freshmen he lead his team to a 22-0 season scoring 22 goals and having 22 assists.

He also attended USA’s U16 national camps, as well as Regional team tournaments. After the high school soccer season
he decided it was time to leave his Morris United team to join the first academy team made in the MLS the U17
Metrostars coached by Paul O’Donnell. He was the youngest player on the team at the age of 15. He also played with
the Metrostars U19 squad in a friendly match against the National team of Bermuda at the age of 15. Vincenzo was
obviously known all over the nation as one of the top players in the country. He traveled all over the world playing
in top tournaments with the national and regional teams as well as his school and club team. His sophomore year he
won the National title while being the youngest player in the starting lineup and scored 14 goals and had 9
assists. After the high school season he attended the Dallas cup with the Metrostars. They were in the U19 age
group and Vincenzo was only 16. By starting and having 2 assists and scoring 1 goal he impressed many college
coaches. While playing with the ODP regional team in Italy he was quickly scouted by Livorno, Empoli, Foggia, Bari,
Chievo Verona , and Napoli. Later that summer he officially signed a youth contract for S.S.C Napoli. He was quickly
put in the top team for the 1990 age group and played against some of the finest youth teams in the world like AC
MILAN, INTER, LAZIO, ROMA, and JUVENTUS. He only played half a season due to the January transfer window to open
for his paperwork to come from America. Since summer of 2007 there has been intrests from many english, and spainish
clubs, but he decided to stay in Italy with Napoli. After spending 3 years with Napoli Bernardo left Napoli's youth system and signed with italy's Serie D team NOLA CALCIO.
2003 Captained the team and lead the league in goals again. Participated in many nationwide tournaments including: Nike Friendlies, PDA showcase, Jefferson’s cup, Dallas cup. Lead the team in scoring. Played for middle school team in 7th grade and broke the school goal scoring record with 32 goals in 15 games.
2004 Participated in the ODP (Olympic Development Program) state team then got scouted for the regional team. Soon after a regional camp, was listed on the U14 USA National team Pool. Leading goal scorer with his club team once again. Finished middle school soccer by winning the only county championship ever for his school and breaking his goal scoring record from 32 to 49 in only 16 games.
2005 Participated again on the ODP state team and regional team. Was on the U15 national team and attended 5 out of the 6 camps for them. Switched club teams from Morris United Internationals to NY/NJ Metrostars U16 youth academy team at the age of 14. Went to Dallas cup with the Metrostars and played U19 at the age of 15. Started 3 out of the 4 games and scored 1 goal and had 2 assists. Was scouted to attend the best high school soccer program in the nation - ST. BENEDICTS PREP. As a freshmen scored 22 goals and 22 assist for the freshmen team.
2006 Played state team and captained the regional team for ODP. Played for the U16 national team. Earned 3 international caps and 2 goals for the U16 level, playing against Mexico, Chile, and France. Played varsity for St. Benedicts prep scoring 15 goals and had 9 assist playing outside midfielder. Won a national title with them that year as the only starting sophomore on the team. That summer won another national title for the U16 super y league with his club team NY/NJ Metrostars. Soon after winning 2 national titles, left for a tournament in Italy with the ODP Regional team, as captain. After the tournament, stayed in Italy and had various trials with a few teams. In late august 2006 Bernardo signed a youth contract with S.S.C Napoli.
2007 Moved to Naples and played a total of 16 games due to some transfer problems from America to Italy. Scored 11 goals and has 6 assists (season and friendly Matches) with the Allievi Nazionale Napoli Team. Played in a national tournaments in Udine and Naples. This summer was invited to a U17 USA National camp in New Jersey which he played 2 games and scored 1 goal.
2008 Returned to Napoli to play in with Napolis Berretti Nazionale team. Played in 15 games scored 4 goals and had 8 assists while picking up 5 Penalty kicks for his team. Traveled to Portugal for a U20 USA National team call up. Scored his first international goal on his debut vs Northern Ireland. Vincenzo also started and played against Portugal's U21 National Team. During the summer he was listed on the USA U20 National team roster for the Milk Cup. He gained 3 more international caps by playing against Ireland, Belgium, and Wales. He is now playing for Napoli's Primavera team and trains on and off with the first team. He was also called in once again to represent the U20 USA National team in Madrid, Spain where he performed very well. He was soon after called in for a camp in Sunrise, Florida.
2009 After spending preseason with Napoli Vincenzo became a free agent after not extending with S.S.C Napoli. In September he traveled to england and spent time with Watford. After his trial in england he traveled back to USA.
2010 While being in the states Vincenzo spent time with Kansas City Wizards, Rochester Rhinos, and San Jose Earthquakes. After the trials he traveled to Italy to guest play with the IMG select team. He took part of two tournaments. He played a total of 6 games against the reserve squads of 1st, 2nd and 3rd div italian teams. He totaled 6 goals and 1 assist in 6 games. Soon after he signed with the professional italian team NOLA. (ITALY 4 DIVISION)
